The Sacramento Kings and the Utah Jazz played against each other on Tuesday night at the Vivint Arena. But it was unclear who was the winner at the end, as officials resorted to a review. Both the teams came exceptionally close, but the NBA officials found the Kings to be the winners. What happened? Why was there a Steve Harvey- Miss Universe kind of mixup? The crowd celebrated, and quickly hearts were shattered.

There was a buzzer-beater, but there was another insane shot by a $163 million Jazz player. It just didn’t make it in the nick of time.

A wild ending for the Kings vs Jazz

Both teams were tied at 115. Kings De’Aaron Fox drove the ball to the basket with 0.3 seconds left. The Kings led by 2 points at this stage.

With a few more seconds left on the clock, Jarred Vanderbilt made a long pass to his teammate, Lauri Markkanen. Lauri took a game-winning shot. The crowd went wild, as they assumed that the shot pulled them through. The scoreboard, too, reflected 117-117 for both teams. Unfortunately for the Jazz team and the fans, the ball didn’t make it in time. The ball was in mid-air at 0.0. Lauri needed a 10th of a second to win the game for his team. He was visibly heartbroken at the review.

Fans were seen with their hands on their mouth, too stunned to speak.? The team’s celebration turned to bitter tears.? The Jazz forward ended the night with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Jazz puts Lauri on the NBA All-Star Campaign

On 2 January, the Utah Jazz released a campaign to get their star players into the NBA All-Star game. Though the voting commenced before the Christmas holidays, the franchise still wanted to put Lauri Markkanen’ s name forward.

The Finnish player got a witty caption from the franchise’s social media: “It’s time the Finnisher becomes an All-Star“. He has become increasingly reliable for his teammates. In the league, he has become one of the best offensive players to watch out for.
