After a practically flawless start to the season, the Golden State Warriors are experiencing a bit of a bumpy ride. Ironically, the return of Klay Thompson has brought about a sudden slump in their results. Yet, 49-year-old retired powerhouse Shaquille O’Neal has always pitted them as the favorites for the title this year. And in spite of the turn of events, he is upholding his bold prediction for the time being.

The Warriors have missed stalwart Draymond Green over the past few weeks. Regardless of their scoring masters, Green is the man who conducts the orchestra. With the 31-year-old out due to injury, there is a missing piece in the puzzle. With Thompson still finding his groove, a majority of the workload has fallen on the shoulders of Curry again. Characteristically however, he is also struggling with consistency.

Ever since he broke the NBA’s 3-point scoring record, Stephen Curry has been shaky from the field. Nonetheless, Shaq has been mightily impressed with how compact Steve Kerr’s men seem to be. So much so that, he has assured one and all that the men in blue and yellow will take home the Western Conference. If not, there is a brutal punishment awaiting the 15-time All-star.

O’Neal has repeatedly claimed that nobody is dethroning Steph and the Warriors this year. Regarding prowling rivals Phoenix Suns, the big man dismissed the competition. On the ‘Big Podcast With Shaq’, he reiterated his view.

In addition, he told fans that he would get a special tattoo if Devin Booker and co. conquer the West. “If the Suns beat Golden State I am going to walk two blocks with Suns written on my a**,” he has firmly stated.

What happens from here on forward, happens. Are we going to see last season’s runners up make an appearance on the backside of Shaq? Or can Curry keep up the Lakers legend’s reputation? Only time will tell.
