Shaquille O’Neal opened up about his anger issues in the most recent episode of his podcast. While answering a fan’s question, ‘the Big Diesel’ revealed that he regrets some of the decisions he had made in the past prompted by anger. Shaquille O’Neal also emphasized the importance of not letting personal grudges affect your relationship with your family.

During his stint as a broadcaster for TNT, Shaq has often displayed moments of angry outbursts, mostly against his co-host and friendly Charles Barkley. As a result, the four-time NBA champion’s anger issues are an open secret in the NBA community.

Shaquille O’Neal addressed his anger management issues in response to a question from a listener. The fan had asked him what advice he would give to his 30-year-old self.

I wish I was a better communicator,” Shaq revealed after a slight hesitation. “I wish I knew how to turn it off,” he added.

As it turns out, the 7’1″ giant struggled to balance his roles on and off the court. In fact, he often allowed his work problems to impact his relationship with his family.

When you have children, you can’t do that,” Shaq admitted. The former Lakers center also admitted to holding grudges against people and letting it affect his relationships. In other words, his tendency to lose his temper easily compelled him to make a lot of poor decisions in the past.

Shaq’s marriage with Shaunie

Since then, Shaq has publicly assumed responsibility for his divorce from his ex-wife, Shaunie O’Neal. In other words, the 2000 MVP admitted that his mistakes caused the relationship to come to an end.

Furthermore, Shaq also accepted that he had a perfect wife in Shaunie. But he failed to maintain a healthy relationship with her due to his own shortcomings.

Shaquille O’Neal married Shaunie Nelson in December 2002. After five years together, they separated in 2007, only to get back together after a while.
