The Los Angeles Lakers legend, Shaquille O’Neal, had quite a journey as an NBA player. From unforgettable rivalries to unmatched dynasties, he did it all. Since his retirement, he has been focusing on other things as well.
Apart from expanding his business and building on his financial portfolio, he went on to chase another dream: making music.
Not many people know that Shaq’s love for DJing dates back to 1986. Not only is he doing it since then, but he had to struggle a lot to get past ordinary turntables and finally work with the latest technology. Now, with more time on his hands, he decided to bring back more adrenaline into his life by continuing it.
His stage name is DJ Diesel, whose debut is set to take place in Houston’s Sekai Day and Night Club on Saint Emmanuel St. Before that, he spoke to Coco Dominguez and in that discussion, he talked about the NBA.

O’Neal explained why he isn’t focused on being the best DJ, but loves the adrenaline that he derives from it. He continued, “What makes the NBA a great sport is not because of LeBron James. It’s because of LeBron, it’s because of Steph Curry. It’s because of all these people.”
This only means that there are many great DJs, and it’s all about just making better stuff for the audience. It’s just about the kind of music that resonates with people. This is quite a wise statement from O’Neal and surely makes one think.
