The Lakers legend himself was a Platinum-selling rapper. An encounter between Shaquille O’Neal and John Cena, either in a wrestling ring or in a rap battle, would be something to behold.
Shaquille O’Neal’s rap career
The Orlando Magic selected Shaq as the #1 pick in 1992 and he won the Rookie of the Year. In 1993, Shaq started writing rap songs. His first album ‘Shaq Diesel’ sold over one million copies and got the Platinum certification.
In 1994, he released his next album ‘Shaq Fu: Da Return’ where he worked with other rap icons like Method Man, RZA, and Redman. Notably, Shaq featured alongside Michael Jackson as a guest rapper on ‘2 Bad’ on Jackson’s 1995 album ‘HIStory’.

Then Shaq released his third album ‘You Can’t Stop The Reign’ in 1996 which had guest appearances from Jay-Z and The Notorious B.I.G. O’Neal’s fourth album ‘Respect’ was released in the year 1998.

O’Neal has also acted in multiple Hollywood movies. His first movie ‘Blue Chips’ was released in 1996. In the movie, Shaq and actual teammate Penny Hardaway acted as the team’s star players.
In the year 1996, his second movie ‘Kazaam’ was released, and in 1997 Shaq’s next movie ‘Steel’ was released. He then had several cameo appearances in movies throughout the years. Recently, Shaq had a bigger role in the movie ‘Uncle Drew’ with Kyrie Irving and other former NBA players.
