NBA legends Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas were rivals who crossed swords multiple times during their playing days. They didn’t have a great relationship due to their rivalry and Zeke even called him out on numerous occasions for his questionable actions. Back in December 2022, the Detroit Pistons legend wanted to let fans in a chat session understand how he compared with MJ. He ended up bringing in a strong Magic Johnson-Kareem Abdul-Jabbar take.

A clip of the conversation gained a lot of traction on social media and many fans chimed in on it with their opinions. It appears now that the clip also grabbed Hall of Famer and four-time champion Shaquille O’Neal‘s attention.

Shaq is a social media icon and often shares a plethora of posts to keep his fans updated and entertained. Recently, he shared a clip of Thomas giving his take on his Instagram story. The clip is a snippet from the Pistons legend’s chat with his The Pivot Podcast hosts.

In the clip, the 12x All-Star could be seen saying, “If Jordan, they saying, ‘You the best’ – beat your a**. Magic [Johnson] and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] – beat you. [Larry] Bird and [Kevin] McHale – beat you. Can’t nobody else say that. We [Detroit Pistons] are the only one to say that.”

Thomas’ statements referred to the fact that he and the Pistons have beaten the two most dominating teams of the 80s: Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics led by Magic-Abdul-Jabbar and Bird-McHale, respectively. And of course, the Pistons legend reiterated that he has also beaten MJ, who is lauded by many as the greatest.

Shaq seems to agree with Zeke‘s statements, sharing the clip from February of the podcast last year among his Instagram stories today. The claim about the iconic former lakers, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, may have caught the attention of the legendary LA sider O’Neal. However, especially as regards Thomas saying he is no less than Michael Jordan, perhaps Shaq shared his displeasure over Jordan having name-called Thomas in his documentary in 2020.

The 2020 docuseries, The Last Dance showcased some behind-the-scenes footage from Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls. However, it revealed a few more things. In the docuseries, a few players like Isiah Thomas and Scottie Pippen seem to be portrayed in a bad light. And the topic under discussion that led to Thomas’ debatable claim about beating the legends was how the six-time champion Michael Jordan had called Zeke an “a******” in the documentary.

This certainly disappointed the 13x All-Star and he uttered a few words about MJ, “I was upset. I was upset of watching a documentary of a guy being an a****** to everybody, but then called me a a****** – and I ain’t been nothing but nice to this dude.”
