Shaquille O’Neal once revealed the reason why he does not wear his original Hall of Fame ring. On an episode of

Late Night with Seth Meyers, Shaq explained the reason why he wears a replica. Shaq mentioned how, as a youngster, whenever he won something he used to give it to his father. So it got programmed into Shaq’s brain to give his achievements to his father.

Shaq asked his father the reasoning behind this. Shaq said, “I finally asked him why he did that. And his reasoning was that he never wanted me to get satisfied.” Shaq’s father always looked out for him and wanted him to be better.

Shaq explained that when his father passed away, he dedicated a room to him in his house. He kept his dad’s memorabilia and other nostalgic stuff in that room. To follow his tradition, he even kept his original Hall of Fame ring there.

Shaq further said that the original ring was precious. It meant something to him and his father. Therefore, he kept it in the room dedicated to his father. The ring that Shaq wears occasionally is one he got designed himself.

Shaq has had an unreal and very impressive career in the NBA. He has not just broken backboards and rims, but has also stolen fans’ hearts. Shaq was extremely dominating on the court. He used his body and weight to slash to the rim and score. However, he had a fun-loving personality off the court.

Shaq was admired by the entire NBA community. Shaq won the Rookie of the Year award in 1993 and he was the MVP in 2000. He has been selected to countless All-NBA teams. Moreover, he has also been selected to quite a few All-NBA Defensive teams.

Shaq had a legendary career. He has shared the court with some of the greatest basketball players to exist. Shaq also has 4 championships to his name. He will always be remembered as an absolute beast on both ends of the basketball court.
