The primary aim for any team in the NBA is to win the championship. In the case of a rebuilding franchise, the aim is to build a team that will bring championship success in the future. However, for teams that already have big names, the need to win is immediate, and nobody understands this better than a legend like Shaquille O’Neal.
During his career as an NBA player, Shaq won 4 titles collectively with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. Hence, it is fair enough to say that the ‘Big Aristotle’ knows what it takes to win.

“If you’re on my team and you can’t play home games, I don’t want you around. Like, we have a chance to win and if you ain’t on the program, go somewhere else,” said Shaq.

Added to this is the uncertainty of James Harden’s future in Brooklyn, especially since Kyrie is not available for home games. Moreover, the Nets have been on an eight-game losing streak and continue to drop places in the Eastern Conference standings.
This, along with several other factors, including the injury to Durant, has put Harden in the trade limelight. If the problem with Kyrie’s availability were to be resolved, it could benefit the team immensely and may even prevent a Harden trade from happening.

Brooklyn Nets Big-Three 2021-22 Regular Season Averages (Stats valid as of 7th Feb 2022)
With the season reaching its halfway mark, the title hopes for the Nets trio seem to be getting gloomier by the minute. As Shaq rightly mentioned, the Nets’ sole aim is to win the title. After all, that is what the big-three was assembled for. But for this to happen, the entire team must be on the same page with a championship-winning mindset.
