Stephen Curry has helped change how the game is played. With players and enthusiasts more focused on perfecting the three-ball, the baby-faced assassin has played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the sport. Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O?Neal, however, won?t put Curry on his list of the most dominant players, even after hailing the Dubs’ talisman to be the “best point guard of all time.”
Shaquille O?Neal made quite an interesting distinction regarding the Golden State Warriors‘ star point guard. After putting Curry above the great Magic Johnson only moments before, Shaq still raised doubts regarding Steph’s dominance.

Shaq was quick to say no to Turner’s take. When asked why he felt that way, the 4-time NBA champion said, ?He can?t score at will, he can shoot at will.? The 51-year-old went on to give a stinging take, ?Most dominant point guards, yes, but not dominant players.? The co-host then asked O’Neal to explain further, he added, ?When you?re dominant, it?s not a one-season thing.? Seemingly Shaq may have been referring to Curry?s last championship run where he carried the Dubs to bring home another ring.
The question, nevertheless, that begs to be answered is whether there is any truth to Shaq’s take about Curry being above Magic Johnson.
Is Shaq right in choosing Stephen Curry over Magic?
Before?Shaquille O?Neal hailed Curry as one of the best, he went on to choose The Chef over the great Los Angeles Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. As Shaq claimed that Curry was the best point guard ever, co-host Nischelle Turner asked him if he would put the Warriors star over Magic Johnson.

Turner said, “You put him over Magic? Over Magic?” as she repeated her question with emphasis. To that, the Big Aristotle replied by stating, “Yes. Yes, of course, I am. Yeah, you heard it here first.”
Shaq went on to justify his claim by mentioning that the game has evolved, in which the 35-year-old played a big role. The game surely has evolved and the three-point god has a huge hand in it. Now, Magic was a traditional pass-first point guard who excelled in finding open teammates.

He would often have scoring outbursts but nothing close to what Curry does. The Warriors star has a score-first mentality, along with great handling and court vision as well. To many in the hoops world, that may just give Stephen Curry the edge over the five-time NBA champion.
