Many members of the NBA community have sounded off on the latest move made by Deion Sanders. Sanders recently left Jackson State to become the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. The veteran coach worked at Jackson State for three years, turning the team’s look around and making it a championship contender. In the meantime, Shaquille O’Neal commented on the controversy regarding Sanders leaving behind his recruits at Jackson State, in a recent edition of his Big Podcast.

Meanwhile, Kyle Kuzma and Kendrick Perkins went on to Twitter to share their excitement over the latest move by Sanders. Shaquille O’Neal, on the other hand, had a more nuanced perspective to offer on the matter of coaches leaving for greener pastures.
Shaquille O’Neal breaks his silence on the Deion Sanders situation
Many felt that Sanders may have betrayed Jackson State after leaving the team high and dry. Shaquille O’Neal recently broke his silence on the move made by Sanders to join the Colorado Buffaloes in the recent episode of his ‘The Big Podcast With Shaq’ . The Big Diesel respected Sanders’ decision and wished him the best on his stint with the Buffaloes.
Meanwhile, co-host Nischelle Turner found it heart-breaking that the players put their trust and belief on the coach and he ended up leaving the team and his recruits. In response, Shaq stated that players can move to other universities too if they opt to do so. However, Turner quickly pointed out that only Travis Hunter and Sanders’ son may have that privilege.
After that, O’Neal said, “ We’re not worried about the other ones, we’re only worried about Travis Hunter.” And Turner was caught off guard as she did not expect Shaq to have such a stance.
Hunter had recently committed to playing at Jackson State. And as much as he would’ve liked to play under Sanders, the veteran coach has now transferred to a different university.

However, Shaquille O’Neal clarified that he said what he said half-jokingly. The four-time NBA champion pointed out that players can easily change schools as well. And if not, they just have to adapt to the changes, since these things are common in a professional setting.
Co-host Spice Adams co-signed on the stance. The NFL veteran also pointed out that it’s easier for player to transfer these days.

However, Turner still seemed pretty dubious of the move. That’s when Shaq highlighted that players are lucky just to have a shot at college. It’s pretty unrealistic to believe that conditions will always be ideal.
