Shaquille O’Neal is one of the greatest players of all time, and to top it off, has a very jovial personality. He is also a devoted father to six children and a very successful businessman. Shaq is also a basketball analyst, movie producer, and actor.
Shaq was recently part of the documentary dedicated to Lusia Harris, the first woman who was officially drafted in the NBA. He wanted to make her a household name and get her the recognition she truly deserved. Shaq joined as the executive producer for the documentary “The Queen of Basketball”. Lusia was an integral part of the women’s revolution in basketball and she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for her achievements.

However, Lusia Harris passed away on January 18th, 2022, a month before her 67th birthday. The entire basketball community was saddened by her death, and they paid tribute to her. Her documentary was receiving critical acclimation, and she was finally getting the recognition she deserves. The movie team and family got together to host an intimate Q/A session. Shaq also one of them.

Shaq was asked what qualities and incidents connected him to Lusia. He replied, ” There were many things connected but her smile reminds me of the great Dr.Lucille O’Neal, which happens to be my mother.And When a mother smiles, no matter what’s going on, its gives the feeling that everything will be alright no matter what,”.

“My mother was really dedicated to her family. My mother always tells the story how she choose to focus on me and the family. And when I made big, she came to the room and said, baby I gave up school, I gave up college for you. Can I borrow some money to go back to school…My mother got her bachelor’s, her masters and her doctorate”.
He says that Lusia Harris invested in her family and choose not to pursue her career. Shaq says that she was great mom and her smile made him connect to her.
