A fairy tale for the TCU Horned Frogs came to an end in dramatic fashion. A perfect 15-0 season for the Georgia Bulldogs marked their second consecutive championship. Moreover, it was also their 34th win in the last 35 games. Coach Kirby Smart, became the first ever in the playoff era to win back-to-back college football championships. Humiliating the Los Angeles-based team, TCU was simply no match. However, they weren’t the only ones who suffered. Shaquille O’Neal sank with the LA side after losing out on his bet with Ernie Johnson.

Before the much-awaited championship game, the TNT crew made their predictions. Johnson, a Georgia alumni confidently picked his Bulldogs to repeat. But with Los Angeles making an underdog run to the finals, Shaq couldn’t help but follow his heart. The four-time NBA champion challenged his co-host with a daring bet. The terms were simple, Shaq said if TCU lost, he would eat a frog.

Likewise, with a bit of help from the history-making coach, the Los Angeles Lakers legend lived up to his promise.

Shaquille O’Neal won’t go back on his word

While TCU lost, another man was preparing to drown with them. Shaquille O’Neal lost his bet, and Ernie Johnson brought out his platter. However, being his considerate self, he asked Kirby Smart on how Shaq can enjoy his frogs. Georgia’s coach simply said, everything fried tastes better. Likewise, the legendary NBA personality got out a plate of fried frog legs for the Big Diesel to devour.

The TCU-Bulldogs game was a step further from a one-sided affair. Cementing themselves as a college dynasty, Georgia scored 65 points against their opponents. In response, the underdogs could foster just 7. Bulldogs sniper QB, Stetson Bennett masterfully directed the TCY defense. Throwing for 304 yards, he ended the game with 4 touchdowns of his own. The 58-point deficit was the most in any national title game as recorded by ESPN.
