Bad omens circle the Los Angeles Lakers. The 17x-NBA champions were swept by the Denver Nuggets, who subsequently qualified for their first-ever NBA Finals. Following the sweep, Lakers’ centerpiece LeBron James revealed that he might think of ‘hanging them up’ during the off-season. While the future has become rather foggy for the Lakers, a famous comedian has let out crude remarks about one of LA’s key players.
A notable comedian has weighed in on the much-talked-about 2023 free agency. While talking about the Lakers in that regard, he called out and mocked an 8x-NBA All-Star Laker, who had signed a $189.9 million contract with the franchise.

On the recent episode of Trashh Talk- Where Culture & Sports Collide podcast, comedian Bubba Dub sounded off about hot topics pertaining to the NBA. Bubba Dub and co-hosts were quick to touch up on the Kyrie Irving to Lakers rumor. Apparently, Dub had examined all Lakers stars who will turn free agents. The American comedian pointed out that both D’Angelo Russell and Dennis Schroder will look toward free agency. Although Anthony Davis‘ contract is yet to expire, one of the co-hosts brought AD into the conversation.
Upon hearing Anthony Davis’ name, Bubba Dub started to unleash a mockery on the 2020 NBA champion. “AD can f***ing go,” Bubba Dub said. A co-host asked him, what if LeBron James retires? Bubba Dub stated that he could not care less about AD, even if LeBron retires. “You can’t be no seven-foot goddamn aunt. My ni**a seven-foot giant,” Dub added as the co-hosts listened in disbelief.
Bubba Dub’s joke on the 8x-NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, while he is far from being a free agent, comes off as crude. Davis signed a five-year 189.9 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

As per the contract, AD will earn a salary of $40.6 million in the 2023-24 NBA season. The center can exercise the player option worth $43.2 million after the upcoming season ends. Only if AD declines the player option in 2024 will he hit the free agency market.

Given the back-to-back injuries that befell Davis, he will undoubtedly have to go the extra mile to prove his critics wrong during his remaining time in LA. Save Bubba Dub’s crude remarks on AD, key players becoming free agents, and LeBron contemplating retirement are bad omens for LA.
