In what would have been Gianna Bryant’s 17th birthday, the Mamba and Mambacita Foundationand Nike shook hands to release a new line of sneakers called Nike Kobe 4 Protro ‘Mambacita.’ This is the first release from the Nike Kobe line in one year. The profits generated from the sales of these sneakers will go to the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation. Since this is a limited release, not many have had a chance to get their hands on the iconic sneakers. However, Jessica Alba certainly has.

The Kobe 4 Protro ‘Mambacita’ has got Gianna’s nickname ‘Gigi’ on it. After getting this rare gift, Jessica Alba took to Instagram to thank Mambacita’s mother, Vanessa Bryant. The Dark Angel star posted a picture of a pair of Mambacita sneakers, and wrote, “thank you @vanessabryant- sending you so much love today and everyday.” Vanessa Bryant shared Jessica Alba’s story on her Instagram story as well.

Nike honors Kobe Bryant’s daughter Gianna Bryant

The Nike Kobe 4 Protro, which was released on Gianna Bryant’s birthday, is an absolute tribute to the lost basketball talent. The black and white colors used in the sneakers are reminiscent of Gianna’s youth basketball team’s colors. Besides, a black and white gingham pattern could be seen around the heel. This reminds fans of the flannel shirts Gigi often wore around her waist. Nike has also emblazoned Gianna’s iconic jersey number 2 on the heels.
