There is no doubt in the fact that not only was Michael Jordan as skilled as one can be but virtually gifted. So, even when having an off night, players knew not to trash-talk MJ as he had the ability to flick the switch and drop big numbers on their heads.

Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls dominated the majority of the 90s, winning six NBA championships. But if there was one team that even Michael Jordan tipped his hat to were the Houston Rockets.

Former Rockets head coach Rudy Tomjanovich had once revealed the immense respect Jordan had for Houston. And it was all because of their Hall of Fame bigman, Hakeem Olajuwon. It was the Rockets and Olajuwon who made the most of Jordan?s first retirement, winning back-to-back NBA championships.

Years later, seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry revealed that Olajuwon was the only player that managed to put the fear in Michael Jordan. In an interview, Horry said, ?He used to call us, ‘I?m scared of the big African because he?s from Nigeria.’?

Horry revealed that Olajuwon, being a Muslim, was not allowed to eat or drink anything before sundown. And yet, The Dream would manage to drop 40 points, which only goes to show how amazing he was.

Michael Jordan?s first retirement opened the window for the rest of the league to leave their mark in the history books. And the Houston Rockets did just that in 1994-95, winning their only two NBA championships in franchise history.

Rudy Tomjanovich had the opportunity to speak to Michael Jordan during his first retirement. In an interview with The Athletic, Tomjanovich revealed that MJ had high praise for what the Rockets were able to accomplish.

MJ mentioned that the Bulls did not have the resources to contain their star center, Hakeem Olajuwon. He even went on to reveal that the Rockets were the only team to give them a hard time.
