It was a significant moment for the Bryants because Kobe had won his first-ever Oscar for the short animated film “Dear Basketball”. Vanessa reminisced about the moment with her late husband through the Instagram post with a caption that read, “Forever Winning❤️” . She also tagged the social media handles of Kobe, Vanity Fair, and professional photographer Mark Seliger in the post.

In 2018, Kobe Bryant made history by becoming the first African-American ex-athlete to win an Academy Award. The animated short film was written and narrated by the Hall of Famer himself and was directed by Glen Keane.

The film is all about Kobe’s love for basketball and what inspired him to choose it as a career. While giving his acceptance speech, Bryant had said, “As basketball players, we are really supposed to shut up and dribble, but I’m glad we do a little bit more than that.”
