Diana Taurasi is a legend in female basketball. She is on the list of top 10 players who have won the WNBA most times in their career. She was the first pick in the 2004 WNBA draft for the Phoenix Mercury.
All three of the WNBA championships that Mercury won were in Diana’s reign. In a recent live session, Taurasi talked about her interactions with the great Michael Jordan.

Diana Taurasi shared her experience and talked about the two times she had gotten the chance to interact with MJ. In conversation with Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird, and Penny Taylor, Diana shared the story of the time she met MJ.
Diana shared that when she first met Michael Jordan, it was during a basketball camp when she had not played in the NBA. The next time she met MJ was when she had become a counselor. MJ greeted her, and she shared how the conversation went down.
“He comes up to me and I’m like, hey Mike how are you and he goes, ‘How your free throws doing?’ I’m just like this dude doesn’t let go of anything!”

The five-word comment was a taunt towards her past meeting with MJ and she was stunned that not only did he remember it, but also made a witty remark about it.

There was a contest at the time in MJ’s basketball camp under which making 10 different shots and then a free throw would win the participant a free pair of Jordans. Diana attended the same in 1999. She admitted that having hit all 10 shots, she could not make the free throw. However, she thought that she would get a free pair of sneakers anyway. So she went to Michael Jordan.

“So I walked up to him and he said, ‘nice try.’ Didn’t even break the smile.” Diana shared. She was just 16 or 17 at the time, as she said so herself. MJ’s toughness towards her as a kid and then taunting her years later just shows the personality Michael Jordan has kept with himself all his life.
