The situation of WNBA star Brittney Griner is heartbreaking, to say the least. It is never an ideal situation to be detained in a foreign country. Especially in a country that is not so friendly with the United States. Recently, Griner was sentenced to 9 years in Russia for drug possession. The amount of drug possessed and her reason for packing have been a topic of debate.

Now, rapper and actor, Fredro Starr, has given his honest take on the whole ordeal during a recent interview with VladTV. During the sit-down, Fredro admitted that Russia is the biggest market for his rap group ‘Onyx’.

As soon as the host started talking about Brittney Griner, Starr said, “Now we can talk about that. Because Russia is Onyx’s biggest market.”?He also revealed that they were supposed to go to Russia a month before Griner did.

The rap star disclosed that he had never brought weed to Russia and that he would never do that. But said that a weed pen is different. Moreover, Starr said that he believes the towering center got caught up in political issues.

Fredro Starr said, “Imma tell you like this. She got caught up in some political s**t and it’s fu***d up!”?The Onyx star is definitely not the first one to suggest that Brittney Griner is a political pawn. Over the last few weeks, many celebrities have made a similar statement. Moreover, after her sentencing, a lot more people are of the same opinion owing to the shocking 9 years sentence.

However, Starr didn’t look like he believes that Griner had it for medicinal purposes. When the interviewer brought it up, he didn’t seem very convinced. But he revealed, “There is weed in Russia!”?and said “Russia’s different. Russia’s hip. They got hip hop”.

He continued, “I smoke mad weed in Russia every time I go there. Better than Cali… And for a weed pen? Come on, man. She got caught up. Because it ain’t that serious.”

And the rap star had bad news for Onyx’s Russian fans. He said that the Onyx is not going back to Russia until the issue is Brittney Griner is resolved. Starr said that he loves Russia and the Russian fans, however, he doesn’t want the group to be in a similar situation as Griner. Because they don’t have control over issues like these.
