LeBron James has been on an offensive tear this season. However, him being one of the leading scorers in the league has not translated well for the Lakers. In their previous matchup against defending champions Milwaukee Bucks, James and Co. were outclassed and lost the game by 15 points.

Additionally, the Lakers’ big 3 trio, consisting of James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, hasn’t worked out well for the Lakers, especially in the case of Russell Westbrook. During the game, Russ would see himself subject to booing from the crowd and would even sit out during the 4th quarter loss to the Bucks.

In light of Westbrook’s poor performances, rumors have emerged surrounding a possible trade of the star before the trade deadline, especially since there is a loss of faith in the point guard.

LeBron James and Co.’s loss of faith in Westbrook

Following the loss to the Bucks, there seemed to be an air of tension inside the Lakers’ locker room. The champs of the 2019-20 season looked done for the night as the game against the Bucks came to a close. Towards the end of the game, Westbrook could be seen making an encouraging gesture to LeBron and AD, but they didn’t seem to acknowledge this act much.

Clearly, not only is there a problem with the Lakers’ chemistry, there seems to be something off about how the squad feels about Russ. After having dropped their 29th game of the season, it was revealed that the squad not only recognizes the same issues that the world sees, but also feels a definitive loss of faith in Russ. Clearly, something needs to be done soon, if LeBron’s Lakers are to keep their title hopes alive this season.

As the second half of the season begins after the All-Star break, the Lakers will look to win as many games as possible to hopefully turn this season around. Additionally, if the team decides not to part ways with Westbrook, they will look to add at least some additional pieces that can help the team become more competitive.

However, if no trades happen, then the best thing that the Lakers can do is regroup and pick each other up.
