It was nothing new for the Lakers fans on Tuesday night. The loss against the Phoenix Suns was just another defeat of the long list in the disappointing season. LeBron James was on the sidelines with an ankle injury coupled with his sore knee. The mantle was in the hands of Russell Westbrook and the rest of the team to fight till the last game.
There can be a drop in form. There might come a season where nothing goes your way. But a team has to try till the last game. The Lakers’ last sliver of hope was to win all four of their remaining matches and hope that either one of the Pelicans or the Spurs lose all their remaining. However, the Spurs won their game, and it was a blowout loss for the Lakers.

It has been the same old story for the Lakers for the whole season. They have been poor defensively, giving away too many turnovers, leaving massive gaps for the opposition to play their game and a lackluster display in offense. Only LeBron James has shown his quality on a consistent basis in offense. However, he was still criticized for not contributing in the team’s defense and also accused of chasing the most points record. No player, no team plays to lose. But sadly, the Lakers often looked like they lacked motivation and a desire to win as they let multiple games slip away from winning positions all season.

Russell Westbrook reveals his ideal plan with LeBron James and Anthony Davis next season
Russ West has been a subject to constant criticism. Westbrook is an NBA legend and he himself knows that the season he has had is nowhere near his quality. Anthony Davis has struggled with his injuries all season. He has not had any playing time in a long stretch of games. LeBron James has been the only player who has reached the quality he aims for. However, as it turns out, that was also not enough, even for a play-in qualification. Interestingly, Russell Westbrook ideally plans to “run it back” next season.

No thank you Russ. And if LeBron & AD insist, Ya’ll can run it back somewhere else. We ain’t going through another year like we just did. The torture was unbearable. Will take a few more weeks to get over this embarrassment. Just let it go & move on. We’re doing same. Trade Russ

russ wasn’t even bad after the all star break. his stats were similar to what they were year round. i feel as though he wasn’t being utilized correctly. with a coaching change this could definitely change

No one would deny that the Lakers have underperformed by a mile. Of course they have. Because that roster might not look flawless and unbeatable, but still looks like a team that would fight for the playoffs.

So the fault is also within the team. Frank Vogel did win a championship in 2020 with the Lakers, but one would argue his tactics were below average all season. Maybe a change of coach is what the Lakers require next season. Or they need to revamp the team as a whole. Whatever they do, the Lakers are not a side that should be down and out for long. The franchise with the most NBA championships and such a rich history needs to step as a unit for a better future.
