The Russell Westbrook trade sent south for the Lakers this season. Despite LeBron James having confidence, the purple and gold missed out on the postseason. With Brodie, he didn’t have the best opening session for his new team. However, it seems like he wasn’t allowed to play freely during his first year with the Lake show.

Westbrook did not enjoy a season of dreams in his hometown. He had many embarrassing moments throughout the season for the Lakers. Despite picking things up towards the end, it did not prove to be enough.

But there were encouraging signs as Westbrook looked like himself with time, something LeBron James and AD kept saying through the season.

But according to Russ, he feels they were not being honest about it

Did LeBron James lie?

Throughout the season, Westbrook had to deal with multiple lineup changes. This also led to his role taking a toll. However, despite struggling at times, James and Davis were always supportive of the former league MVP. Surprisingly, Russell Westbrook felt that did not come out truthful as he opened up about it in an interview.

Brodie said: “Yeah, but that wasn’t true. Let’s be honest.”

While this may come as a shock, Russ had to hold back a big part of his game. As an attacking point guard, Russ has made a living having the ball in his hands. But with the purple and gold, he was the second option behind LeBron James.

Due to high turnovers and poor shot-making, Westbrook was also made to sit out in the clutch. After averaging over 20 points for 11 consecutive seasons as the primary handler, his points dipped to 18.5 this season.

While the trade definitely didn’t work out well, there were many other reasons. Injuries saw the Big 3 of the Lakers barely play any games together. Hence, there were many factors that played in and Brodie got the most blame for it. As the most consistent star on the team, Westbrook had to constantly adapt to the changes and adjust accordingly.
