The Los Angeles Lakers really needed a pick me up after losing games against the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns. Even though their third game was a victory against the Memphis Grizzlies, they weren’t still looking at the title-contending team everyone had imagined. However, that quickly changed when they played the San Antonio Spurs tonight. The Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis really stood out in LeBron James’ absence. In fact, Russell even won more hearts after his touching gesture towards a Lakers fan.
Russell Westbrook takes fans’ poster seriously
The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs had an unexpectedly entertaining overtime game, that ended in the purple and gold’s favor with a 125-121 score. Fans were very nervous when LeBron James was officially ruled out for this matchup because of an ankle injury he endured while playing the Grizzlies. So, Malik Monk started in his place instead.

Up until the first half of the game, both teams kept fighting for a lead. However, the third quarter was a big one for the Spurs, who outscored the Lakers 35-24. This was thanks to Devin Vassell and Loonie Walker IV, who were raining buckets from the arc. But the Lakers rallied back from a 12 point deficit, thanks to Anthony Davis, Westbrook, Malik Monk, and Austin Reaves’ contribution.
Westbrook ended the night with a whopping 33-point performance, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Davis also had 35 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, with 4 assists. Even though the game had ended, Westbrook wasn’t done assisting. A kid with a poster that said, “Brodie, can I have your shoe?” was sitting on someone’s shoulders. And Westbrook felt tempted and actually tossed his shoe for the fan to catch.

Can this new Lakers duo keep their chemistry intact?
For those who are saying that the Lakers are better off without Bron after this game, are very wrong. How? Well, for the team to win without him, two of their superstars had to pull off their best performance against the Spurs. That goes to show how vital his presence is in the roster.
Next up, the LA team will be facing their easiest opponents so far, the Oklahoma City Thunder. There is no reason for them to lose this game, with or without Bron. Do you think they can finally pile up more wins than their losses after their game against OKC?
