The Los Angeles Lakers have continued on their poor form from last season, losing all four games at the start of the 2022-23 season. The roster issues continue for the Lakers with little hope of any kind of consistency so far. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have given the team some hope, but the lack of support from other players has kept the Lakers away from a victory this season. Recently, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe has taken the NBA world by storm as he pointed out the reason behind the misery of LeBron James’ Lakers.

The Lakers media portrayed Russell Westbrook as the cause of the franchise’s failure last season. The Lakers acquired Westbrook in 2021 with hopes of creating a big three alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, the trio plays only 21 games with an 11-10 record.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers recently lost their fourth game in a row against the Denver Nuggets by 110-99 in Westbrook’s absence. NFL legend took a shot at James and Davis, claiming the Lakers to be a bad basketball team with or without Westbrook in the lineup. 

Former NFL Legend takes a dig at LeBron James

The three-time Super Bowl champ wrote on Twitter, “Lakers are just a bad basketball tm. With or w/o Russ. They’re TERRIBLE. Bron has 7 turnovers with 4-10 shooting. He’s playing the worse gm I’ve seen in play in 4ever.”

Sharpe criticized James’ poor run this season, suggesting that the four-time NBA champ was playing worse games than he had ever seen him play. The NBA world has gone berserk after the controversial comments from the former Denver Broncos Tight end. One of the fans commented, “glad russ won’t be the scapegoat this time.”

Russell Westbrook was heavily criticized for his lack of chemistry with the Lakers last season. The LA front office tried hard to trade the nine-time All-Star during the offseason, with no fruitful results.

Russell Westbrook was targeted by the media yet against during the start of the season for standing away from the team huddle. Fans feel that it is quite clear Russell Westbrook is not the only problem that the Lakers roster has. The lack of support from other teammates has been a real issue.
