NBA superstar LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are off to a terrible start to the season. After last season’s performance and not clinching the playoffs, there was a huge amount of pressure. But the Lakers looked confident despite their struggles in the pre-season games. Superstar center Anthony Davis who missed a lot of games in the past two seasons claimed they are title contenders. He stated they would like to ruin the ring night celebrations of the Golden State Warriors in the first game of the season.

But the reigning champions won the game comfortably with a scoreline of 123-109. Following that game, the Lakers then faced rivals Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers. Even though the two games were close, the results were the same. The Lakers’ poor three-point shooting continued in all three games. And most fans pointed their fingers at former MVP Russell Westbrook.
In the first three games of the season, he is 11 of 38 from the field and 1 of 12 from three-point territory. For the fourth game of the season against the Denver Nuggets on the road, the team announced Westbrook was listed as doubtful because of left hamstring soreness.
LeBron James and the Lakers lose four straight games
Russell Westbrook received huge backlash for attempting an unnecessary shot against the Blazers when they were up by 1 with 18 seconds left on the shot clock and 30 seconds left in the game. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and his teammates could not believe his decision. The Blazers won the game 106-104. Because of left hamstring soreness, he missed the game against the Nuggets and the Lakers lost the game with a scoreline of 99-110. However, fans still blamed Westbrook for the loss on Twitter. Here are some of the reactions:

Everybody knows our problems are bigger than Russ, we have no shooting. Russ is just an added problem not a solution

The 47 million that’s being paid to Russ… That could’ve been allocated towards idk, some good shooters, better complimentary pieces to bron/ad, just more contributing players in general.

Him and his contract are the root of all the problems

Still Russ and the management, think about this, we could’ve traded him for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, which can solve the 3s and center problem. Talk about further, they don’t have to sign so many minimum contracts’ PG trying to fill in 3s with russ 40million around
— SimpleLife (@LeeYongHong5) October 27, 2022
Umm he's making 40 million. So yes its still his fault. Minimal contribution, that money could've been used on support for LeBron & AD. He could earn his contract instead of being a crybaby.

It’s not without Russ tho is it. His $47m contract still hampers the team, playing or not.
— Alex (@Its_Crusha) October 27, 2022
Well.. the dude taking up 50 million in salary cap that could be used on shooting….

The fans are not impressed by the team at all. While Westbrook might not be the sole problem, he is still a problem among others. James had a bad game against the Nuggets with 8 turnovers and a poor shooting performance making just 8 of his 21 field goal attempts.

Anthony Davis had a team-high 22 points with a FG% of 57.9 and 14 rebounds. However, it was not enough to hold off the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. Jokic had a team-high 31 points and 13 rebounds.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham is under huge pressure to deliver soon. The 4-0 start does not look good at all and he has to rectify the shooting woes. If not, this might be a long season for the Lakers fans.
