While half the fandom supports the current Los Angeles Lakers star, the other half is adamant that the former Chicago Bulls player is the GOAT. And this topic is not limited to just basketball. In tennis, it is probably safe to say that the debate currently has three candidates.
‘The Big Three’ of tennis – Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are constantly heralded during any GOAT debate. And Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is a big fan of both Roger Federer and Michael Jordan.
Nick Kyrgios gave his opinion of the Big Three GOAT debate
There is a reason that Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are called ‘The Big Three’. They are arguably the greatest players in the history of tennis. In an episode of the ‘No Boundaries Podcast’, Kyrgios discussed the GOAT debate, and it seemed like he has picked his favorite.
“Federer, for me, is like the Michael Jordan of tennis. I think what he’s done for the sport, in general, with fans, you know with kids… I think kids mostly look up to Federer, if they had to choose out of those three,” said Kyrgios.

He further added,?“As a whole, he’s done the most to move the sport. I think when he retires, it’s gonna be the biggest hit to it… without Federer, there’s no Djokovic, no Nadal, those two guys were chasing him.”?
Additionally, Kyrgios said that Federer is the most influential player and that players such as Grigor Dimitrov have copied his game. In 2021, Federer was asked about his retirement plans, to which he replied that he was unsure about retirement. He added that he wanted to take time out and think it through. After playing in the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2021, Federer had gone through his third operation on his knee. This left the 20-time Grand Slam champion out of the game for over a year.
