In the absence of LeBron James, center-forward Anthony Davis has been leading the Lakers’ charge. Despite LA’s inconsistent results, Davis has been a constant on the scoring charts. For years together now, AD has been a trusted player for his franchises. This has earned him numerous accolades, including a spot on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team. But according to former Houston Rockets All-star Tracy McGrady, fellow Laker Dwight Howard deserves a spot over the 28-year-old.

The Lakers #3, Davis has been shouldering responsibilities for Frank Vogel and co. this year. In his side’s campaign thus far, the powerhouse has averaged close to 25 points and nearly 12 rebounds. He ranks 12th and 7th respectively, for the same. Before joining the men in yellow, Davis had a solid set of years with the Pelicans, where he was a bankable forward. Consistently amassing 20+ points as well as a bucket-load of rebounds over the years, it is only natural that Davis is considered among the league’s best.

Tracy McGrady questions Anthony Davis’ NBA legacy

There were some notable exclusions from the NBA-75 team. Among the biggest exclusions, were the likes of Klay Thompson, and Davis’ teammate Dwight Howard. The 35-year-old even admitted to his disappointment over the snub, claiming that it was disrespectful. He is known for his defensive prowess, and has contributed to numerous victories over the years. And according to Hall of Famer McGrady, Howard deserves a spot on the list over Anthony Davis.

The duo of Davis and Howard recently made headlines, for a spat on the court. Meanwhile McGrady, who was also omitted from the 75, firmly denied that the 8-time All-star had a more illustrious career than Dwight. “You’re trying to tell me if Anthony Davis was to retire right now, he has a better career than Dwight Howard? No way.” The former Rockets guard-forward opined that Howard ought to take Davis’ spot.
