Brittney Griner has been in the news ever since her arrest in Russia in February 2022. While the WNBA star has received a lot of support from all over the world, there have also been people who haven’t been so supportive. As the US government tries to get her back home, another NBA personality has given his take on the whole situation.

Former Los Angeles Lakers center, Robert Sacre chimed in on the debate on Twitter. He tweeted, “Wouldn?t wish Russian prison on anybody but I hope @JoeBiden is working this hard to get all the people of jail in American prisons who got caught with dime bags. Just Saying?“.

The 33-year-old tweeted this with regards to the latest developments in the Griner situation. The Russian government reportedly communicated its request for a prisoner swap to the USA a few weeks ago. While it has had a very polarizing reaction, the former Lakers center made his stance clear.

Sacre, who played for only the Los Angeles Lakers during his four-year NBA career, averaged 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds during his time in LA. He questioned President Joe Biden’s decision to accept the Russian proposal. He wanted the same energy for all the prisoners in American jails who have been caught due to similar circumstances as those of Brittney Griner.

This isn’t the first time an NBA personality has voiced their opinion on this case. Lakers superstar, LeBron James came under fire after his comments?on the situation a few weeks ago. He had to clarify his comments later on as they were met with skepticism.

The WNBA also showed support for the eight-time WNBA All-Star during their All-Star game. All the players had her initials and jersey number on the back of their jerseys. It was a great moment of solidarity shown across the league.
