Jordan Clarkson is a 31-year-old guard for the Utah Jazz. He was previously with the Cleveland Cavaliers till 2019 then he signed to the Jazz and has been with the team since. However, after the end of last season, he was adamant about using his $14.26 million player option to avoid free agency.
As it turns out, the Florida native is in fact interested in staying with the Utah team. According to Shams Charania of the Athletic and Stadium, Clarkson and Jazz are preparing for a $55 million deal. The contract will be valid through 2025-26.
Charania tweeted, “Utah’s Jordan Clarkson, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Brandon Cavanaugh are finalizing a three-year, $55 million contract renegotiation and extension with the Jazz.” The insider added that the “Deal includes next season and two new years through 2025-26.”
Paul has been heavily involved in this deal and his role in this big money deal is being looked down on by fans. Although this is a lucrative deal for Clarkson and everyone involved, fans feel that this is going to have a negative effect on the team and their financial condition. Regardless of the narrative on the internet, the athlete is surely coming out of this a lot richer.

Clarkson has been in decent form, especially last season. He averaged 20.8 points with 4 rebounds and 4.4 assists last season. However, that is not a championship-level performance which is something expected out of him. Now with the millions of dollars pouring in, the expectations will go through the roof.
While we wait for the start of a new season, his contract extension is met with mostly negative reactions. Here are some of the most notable comments:
