From asking Stephen Curry to keep quiet in a press conference to copying his celebration, the internet look at Riley as the mini-version of him. To add on, she looks very similar to Curry. For Curry, the joy of watching his daughter grow up is unexplainable. She is his first child, and the world has seen more of Riley when compared to the other two kids.
His mom, Sonya, believes that the birth of Riley helped Curry become a man. With that said, for 10-year-old Riley, Curry isn’t a two-time MVP or four-time NBA champion. He is her father, and on several instances, she continues to remind the media about the same.
Stephen Curry turns down fans’ request to focus on his daughter
The father-daughter duo might look alike but have different sports interests. Unlike her father, Riley actively plays volleyball. Recently, the two-time MVP went to one of Riley’s volleyball games. While he cheered her on, the attention of half the arena was naturally on him.
In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Curry spoke about this incident. Supposedly, during the game, fans kept walking up to him, wanting to talk and take a picture with him. However, on that day, Curry was on father duty. He had simply come to watch his daughter play.
To give Riley his undivided attention, Curry respectfully told these fans that he can’t take a picture with them. According to Curry, the fans were understanding and let him be.
Curry said, “I was at my daughter?s volleyball practice this morning and watching her and kind of in the moment, and you?ve got people every 30 seconds coming up, trying to get a picture. … Respectfully, not right now, I?m watching my daughter. And they understand. …”
