Rihanna has often been a courtside presence, supporting her NBA team religiously. To anyone following the NBA and Rihanna, the latter’s preference towards LeBron James is well known. She is probably one of his biggest fans, always there to cheer him on whenever she can.
The singer’s support, however, ends up extending to small incidents with players from another team. During the 2017 NBA Finals Game 1, Rihanna and Kevin Durant caused quite a stir online for their stare-down. If that was not enough, Rihanna ended up backing James up after the game as well.

While at the game, Rihanna apparently yelled ‘brick’ at Durant while he attempted free throws. The now-Brooklyn Nets star also ended up throwing a glare Rihanna’s way, not ready to be on the receiving end of any heckling. Interestingly, Durant ended up making both those shots.

He even ended up shooting a three-pointer right in front of her, making it clear that he was not one to back down.
Eventually, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 113-91 against the Golden State Warriors. Rihanna’s reply came after the game outside the locker room where the singer never failing to take James’ side. “It doesn’t matter, b**ch. The king is still the king.”

Later, Durant claimed to have forgotten the whole exchange. Though he was asked if he looked back on purpose after Rihanna’s heckling, the 33-year-old maintained that he does not remember doing any of that.
Even back then, fans seemed to be amused by the exchange. No one expected Rihanna or Durant to take it to the next level. Not only did Rihanna poke Durant during the game, it also carried on to the press conference later on. On top of that, Rihanna’s presence during games always draws in some sort of attention.
Rihanna and LeBron James
Even if this is one of the more recent Rihanna-NBA incidents, James and the award-winning singer go way back. Their earliest interaction can be considered from 2009. This was when they were at the White House for lunch with President Barack Obama. They have even exchanged words on social media as well, often congratulating each other.
