After falling just short of the playoffs last season, this year the Golden State Warriors have come out swinging. As one of the best teams in the NBA, they have jumped back to their peak. One of the main reasons for them to see this kind of success is Stephen Curry playing at an MVP level. After a few injuries along the way, it all looked to be going great for the Warriors, with Green and Klay both returning in time. However, now they face a major setback with Steph’s ankle injury. Recently, the Baby Face Assassin spoke about his potential return.

The Warriors are the third seed in the West just behind Memphis. With the playoff bracket still wide open, the Warriors were looking at making a push for the top. But they had to take a major blow only minutes into their game against the Boston Celtics. In an attempt to steal the ball, Marcus Smart dove right onto Curry’s leg and left him injured. Steph did not return, and they termed his injury to be a left ankle sprain.

Stephen Curry provides injury update

The question that’s been riding Warriors fans is when will they see Stephen Curry back out on the floor? And the man himself made things clear while speaking to the media. Steph said that it is important to not rush the beginning stage of his recovery. He also explained that if not done in the proper manner, the injury could be a nuisance, hence it is important to take it slow. Coming to his return on the court, Curry feels he will be back in playoff time, but he left the fans with hope for a sooner return, saying he is optimistic.

Curry said: “I mean two weeks is kind of the mark to know how it’s healing. From what I am told in terms of the ligaments around the injury and the bone that’s running underneath there, you want to not rush the beginning phases of healing. That’s where you can get the most progress.”

Curry is the focal point of the Warriors’ offense. His dynamic with Draymond and Klay makes the Warriors an enormous threat down the stretch. With a few over 10 games remaining, the West is a real close contest. The Bay is only 4 games ahead of the 6th seeded Denver Nuggets. Despite having reliable scorers in Klay and Jordan Poole, the Warriors have a major dent in their offense with Curry. This came clear in the 110-88 blowout loss to Boston.

With the injury coming so close to the playoffs, the Bay is going to have to be at their best without Curry. Their defense is on point with Green as the leader, but they need to find an offensive hero. While Klay Thompson is one of the best shooters in NBA history, the pressure is most likely to fall onto Jordan Poole. Do you think Poole can provide the Warriors, Stephen Curry like numbers?
