Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant took a lot of heat when he decided to sign with the Golden State Warriors in 2016. The 2x NBA Finals MVP had played for the Oklahoma City Thunder for almost a decade before he announced that he would be leaving the team. Durant was criticized by many for his ‘weak’ move and now it seems like WNBA star Candace Parker is going through the same issue. The 2x WNBA champion recently announced that she plans to sign with the Las Vegas Aces. Parker’s move somehow reminded fans of the Kevin Durant move about seven years ago.
The majority of the NBA world did not approve of KDs choice to leave the Thunders just months after losing to the Warriors. Considered one of the best players in the league, fans had wanted Durant to lead his team to victory on his own instead of seeking a spot in an already strong team.

Parker wrote, “While Chicago will always be my home, my family’s home is on the west coast. To play for a championship close to home is the perfect situation for us. I’m looking forward to continuing the journey this summer in Las Vegas.”
Interestingly, the Aces already have a strong roster that includes WNBA All-Star Kelsey Plum, WNBA Finals MVP Chelsea Grey, and 2x WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. The team previously also included 2X WNBA All-Star Dearica Hamby who was recently traded to the Los Angeles Sparks. Given that Parker decided to join an already loaded roster who are also the defending champions, Twitterati couldn’t help but make comparisons between Parker and Durant. Here are a few of the tweets.

She wrote, “Did the team expect me to promise not to get pregnant in exchange for the contract extension? I was asked if I planned my pregnancy. When I responded, ‘no,’ I was then told that I ‘was not taking precautions to not get pregnant’. I was being traded because ‘I wouldn’t be ready and we need bodies.'”
