The Former Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook has had several doors opened after his trade to Utah Jazz. Westbrook signed a three-team deal with the Jazz that sent D’Angelo Russell to the Lakers last week. Following the deal, the 9x NBA All-Star has been allowed to carry out conversations with his preferred franchises for a week. Moreover, recent reports revealed Beastbrook’s potential collaboration with two superstars on his next team. 

The most unexpected Lakers’ trade is yet to find its closure, as earlier reports revealed Westbrook’s preferred teams as the Jazz management allowed him to exercise his buyout opportunities. The reports confirmed his communication with the Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Washington Wizards. The Athletic senior NBA insider Shams Charania provided further developments on the affair.

According to The Athletic, The LA Clippers have begun their conversation with Russell Westbrook and would expect the star to don the Clippers jersey along with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Moreover, Charania tweeted, “sources tell me and @LawMurrayTheNU. Clippers received permission to speak to Westbrook and talks have started among franchise officials.” According to the three-team deal, the former Lakers star can act as a free agent until he confirms his buyout.

The article further highlighted the Clippers’ aspiration of Westbrook’s potential as a starter to the franchise. The 6’3 point guard has had an impressive season so far, averaging 15.9 points in 52 games.

Moreover, the former MVP built his reputation around his athleticism and versatility. However, the Clippers’ management would provide official updates only after finalizing the deal.

The Clippers are currently the 5th seed of the Western Conference with a steady 32-28 record. 5x NBA All-Star Kawhi Leonard picked up his pace after a slow start from his injury return. He currently averages 22.3 points with a 50% field goal percentage. Moreover, the star player Paul George shouldered the LA side by averaging 23.3 points in 43 games. Additionally,  Beastbrook’s inclusion would strengthen the team’s offense and lead to the franchise’s maiden NBA title.
