Despite the NBA season being months away, one name is still echoing around. Kevin Durant sent out sparks when he requested a trade. Since then, the Miami Heat have become the frontrunners for his signing. However, with the unreal price tag set by the Brooklyn Nets, Miami could be looking in a different direction. Looking to make up for Tucker, they may go for an ex-Celtics star.

Gordon Hayward has embraced his role as a veteran at the Charlotte Hornets. A star that was born in Indiana, he made a big impact at Boston. Capable of scoring and locking up, the former Celtics star can be a major difference maker. However, with a plague of injuries, his career slowed down. Now having a more relaxed role, his value sure has diminished. However, teams would still fight to have him carry the ball for them and South Beach is on the lookout.

But the 12-time All-Star isn’t finding it easy to make his way out of Brooklyn. Hence, South Beach needs to explore new waters.

And their vision has led them to Charlotte. Averaging nearly 16 points per game, Hayward can still produce at a high level. Moreover, his defense works perfectly with the system in Miami. However, there is one major drawback.

Undoubtedly, bringing Hayward changes the entire dynamic. A two-way superstar is the perfect calling for Butler and co. Moreover, his scoring is much higher than Tucker. However, the former Boston Celtics forward is extremely injury-prone. Over the past 3 seasons, Hayward has never played over 55 games. His irregularity could be a major deciding factor for the Heat. They can only focus on Hayward in the shorter run. Hence, a choice will have to be made that will determine the future of Miami in the coming years.
