As the season is coming to an end, there are multiple reports suggesting a new head coach for the Lakers is on the cards. As of now, the Lakers are in a tough position of making it to the Play-In tournament. After an unexpected season from the Lakers, there are players, the front office as well as the coaching staff, being blamed for the poor performance.

However, according to the latest reports, Doc Rivers has been mentioned for Laker’s head coach position as well as for the Jazz. This news is pretty interesting as Jazz’s head coach, Quin Snyder, was earlier reported as a target for coaching the Lakers.

Would Doc be a good choice for coaching LeBron James and the Lakers?

Doc is currently coaching in his 23rd season, for the Sixers. Rivers has a record of 1040-734. Doc is one of the most respected coaches in the NBA. Though a couple of seasons ago, when the Clippers lost in the Western Finals, Doc took the fall for the loss. Despite the poor performance by Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, Rivers took all the criticism in and was fired by the Clippers right after their elimination from the playoffs.

Doc coaching for the Lakers might leave the Sixers and Embiid fans disappointed.

Most of the reactions indicate that fans consider Frank Vogel a better coach than Doc. Or both might share the same knowledge. Earlier, Quin Snyder was being mentioned as the possible head coach for the Lakers next season. This could be a competition between the two, but it seems highly unlikely that Snyder would land in LA as a head coach.

But Doc has coached players who are gifted scorers and leaders. Coaching LeBron and shifting the offense around him may not seem sensible.

How will LeBron respond to a new coach?

LeBron has a history of arguing with his head coaches. He had issues with his former head coach, Tyron Lue. Recently he even had an argument with Lakers‘ Assistant coach, Phil Handy. Not only coaches, LeBron once squared up with his own teammate back in Miami. All of this is not ideal for the player or the management.
