The city of Los Angeles hasn’t had the best of times. Their team, the Los Angeles Lakers, has failed to deliver on their expectations. With multiple losing streaks this season, their roster problems are clearly coming to the forefront. Despite having many veterans on the team, LeBron James and co. have failed to make it work. However, it seems the purple and gold are not done just yet.

At the beginning of the season, the Lakers were looking like a powerhouse. Not only did they sign Russell Westbrook to form a Big 3, of James, Davis, and Westbrook, but they had some good players under their wing. However, things did not turn out like many imagined. With the excessive amount of veterans on the team, the team’s defense has been sloppy, causing them to lose games.

Despite all that, it seems the Lakers want to go for one of the King’s former teammates.

LeBron James looking for a reunion?

According to recent reports, the Lakers are monitoring the situation with the veteran center, Tristan Thompson. The 17-time champions may look to sign him in if he manages to secure a buyout with the Pacers. The 11-year veteran isn’t playing significant minutes. Hence, the possibility of a buyout does look high.

Thompson was a dominating center when he played alongside LeBron James on the Cavaliers. the big man was dominating in the iconic 2016 NBA finals where he showcased himself as a force to be reckoned with against the Warriors. He can still dominate the league as the center is putting up above 5 RPGs in just 15 minutes of action.

While Thompson was great back in the day, his long time in the league has slowed him down quite a bit. In the current scenario, the Lakers need a fresh talent who can contribute on both ends of the floor. They could also do with a great defender as their offense is stacked with the Big 3.

For the most part, the Lakers’ offense has done its job. However, it is their defensive disadvantage that keeps them from taking over games. Currently, the opposition can easily get their way against the Lakers. Hence, to solve this problem, the Lakers would have done well if they went for a defensive specialist during the trade deadline.
