REPORTS: Blockbuster LeBron James-Kyrie Irving Reunion With Lakers at the Cost of Russell Westbrook a Possibility

The rumors have started. Everybody knows it has not been an easy year for anyone associated with the Lakers. Most importantly, for LeBron James, who was trying to carry the team on his shoulder but could only take them so far. In fact not far enough. That proved the lack of depth on the Lakers roster. It was a disappointing season to say the least. The team who won the NBA title in 2020 had a tough time just two years later. Talking about having a tough time, Russell Westbrook was someone who was constantly under the cosh.

Russ West came into the squad with a lot of expectations. After all he has proved himself time and again in different teams. Russ is an explosive player. His specialty includes driving with the ball and dominating the play. But for one reason or another, he just could not give to the team what everyone expected him to. He would have probably wanted to redeem himself but he might not get that chance in the next season. Probably not with the Lakers.

Bill Oram of The Athletic talked about the possibility of a Russ West-Kyrie Irving trade. He said, ?I don?t think it?s nuts. I don?t know that it?s going to happen, but from a logical standpoint it makes sense. From a logical standpoint, the Nets are absolutely sick of the Kyrie Irving experience. The Lakers are sick of the Russell Westbrook experience. That said, the Nets know they have the better player and the better asset despite all of his idiosyncrasies.?

The potential trade rumor puts old teammates back together. If there is a slight chance of this exchange happening we would end up seeing LeBron James partner up with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant partner up with Russell Westbrook again.

The fans did not have a good feeling, and nor were they absolutely against the idea by the look of the reactions. It certainly meant that a deal involving such big players would not be easy to carry through even if all the parties involved are okay with it. And that includes LeBron and KD.?

Russ has not had the worst season, but for a player of his proven caliber and potential, there was a lot in store that wasn?t delivered. As for the Nets, KD and Kyrie have not been the best duo which many expected them to be. That could also be the result of all the James Harden and Ben Simmons fiasco. The fact of the matter is whether both the teams are willing to give it another go for next season with few tweaks around their star players.

As things stand both the Nets and the Lakers had a disappointing season. Even more so for the Lakers. So, both teams are looking to shake things up in order to find the best possible solution for next season. There is not much weight going around the possibility of a Russ-Kyrie swap but if it does happen we would see former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates and Oklahoma City Thunder teammates partner up again.
