Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets are in the final steps of hiring their new head coach. After letting go of James Borrego at the end of the season, the Hornets are now in the final process to hire a new head coach. And it seems that they have shortlisted it down to two candidates to coach LaMelo Ball and the crew.
Jordan and the Hornets seem to have finalized it down to Mike D’Antoni and Kenny Atkinson. Mike was the former Houston Rockets head coach who was credited with unlocking the full potential of James Harden. Harden played for four seasons with Mike and he had legendary seasons then.

Kenny is the assistant coach of the Golden State Warriors and he is the former coach of the Brooklyn Nets. He is credited with revising the Nets franchise from bottom-feeders to title contenders.
And according to senior NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, both of them are scheduled to meet with Jordan for their final round of interviews.

With Mike, the Hornets will hope that he can fully unlock LaMelo Ball’s potential and unleash him on the league. Ball has the chance to be the face of the league and Mike is known to be an offensive-minded coach. Harden loved playing under him, and he was unstoppable in those years. He was leading the league in scoring consistently and put up some mind-boggling numbers.

With Kenny, the Hornets will get a system where everyone is involved. He can turn a good group into a playoff team as he has shown in the past. The Nets were the bottom dwellers in the NBA for years, and Kenny transformed that group into a playoff team.

The Hornets have a good bunch of young players and veterans, but in the last two years, they have been eliminated from the play-in tournament. They need to take a step in the right direction or they may lose out again on some exceptional talent.
Jordan may be considered the GOAT as a player, but his record in the front office hasn’t been great. He needs to hire the right coach or he may risk losing out again and this might serve the franchise well.
