The Kevin Durant summer saga continues to take weird twists. Weeks after requesting a trade, KD is now demanding that the Nets either choose him or the pairing of general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash. However, trade rumors concerning the star forward have continued to fuel the off-season fire.

Following his trade request, the Boston Celtics emerged as potential suitors for his talents. Their co-star Jaylen Brown was reported to be part of any trade package that brings KD to Boston. However, the guard alone won’t meet the gigantic value that the Nets intend to extract from Durant.

According to NBC Sports Kurt Helin, Robert Williams III is “not available” in any trade for Durant proposed by the Celtics. He also claimed that the best offer the Nets will receive would center around Jaylen Brown.

However, it is understandable why the Celtics are hesitant to part ways with Williams. The 24-year-old big man is coming off unarguably his best season. In 61 starts with Boston, he averaged 10.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. Williams also made it to the all-defensive second team, demonstrating how quickly the gifted center has blossomed.

His ascension to become one of the league’s finest rim protectors has been meteoric. He even aided the Celtics to conclude last season as the league’s best defensive team in terms of opponent points per game. Therefore, Williams is unlikely to be involved in any trade talks and will likely stay a Celtic for the foreseeable future.
