The NBA offseason is in full swing right now. The teams are now evaluating their roster concerning their performances last season. The Los Angeles Lakers, who had one of the most disappointing campaigns in recent memory, have also been somewhat active in the offseason. They recently signed NBA champion forward Juan Toscano-Anderson. Juan last played for the Golden State Warriors in their title charge against the Boston Celtics.

The Lakers are looking to retool their roster after not even qualifying for the playoffs last season. They are looking to get younger and faster after having one of the oldest rosters last season.

Being a defending champion is a tough business. Retaining all your players is always difficult as sometimes because of winning they price out themselves from the team’s budget.

But it looks like the Golden State Warriors are about to return the favor to the Los Angeles Lakers. According to reports, The Golden State Warriors are on the shortlist of teams interested in Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony last season signed with the Lakers. He accepted a bench role for the Lakers and often provided some level of scoring while LeBron was on the bench. It will be interesting to see how will he fit into the Warriors system if they indeed go ahead and sign him.

Lakers and the urgency to win now

This is a make-or-break season for the Lakers. LeBron James is in the last year of his contract with the Lakers. He can become a free agent next season. If he feels like the Lakers are not built to win right now, he might leave for some other team. Because at this stage of his career, competing for championships is a priority for LeBron.

Apart from Anthony Davis, the Lakers do not have any contract on their books starting from 2023-24.
