Phoenix Suns have three powerful offensive weapons in their arsenal. The Suns, along with the Nuggets, Lakers, and Warriors, are among the favorites to win the West. However, Indiana Pacers legend, TNT analyst, and well-known trash talker, Reggie Miller and his colleague Jamal Crawford tore down the Suns during a media conference call this week.

Miller received fire on Twitter when Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic shared opinions Reggie made against Kevin Durant‘s Suns. In addition, he included an audio clip of the media conference call in his tweet.

Phoenix’s incredible big three are set to contend for the Sun’s first-ever NBA championship. While several analysts are hedging their bets on the three-headed offensive powerhouse of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, others have remained hesitant in crowning the Suns as title favorites. Among them is TNT member, Reggie Miller.

Reggie pointed out that the Phoenix Suns have perhaps three of the top go-to guys entering the 2023-24 regular season. He sees them as a formidable opponent, with other heavyweights. But he hopes they don’t become too top-heavy, which may put them at a major disadvantage later in the season.

Miller talked extensively about Phoenix’s depth, but he also mentioned how teams limit their bench rotations in the playoffs, as Denver did during its title run. He remarked, “The only concerning thing for me is I do believe they’re very top heavy…I just hope Phoenix isn’t too top heavy. That’s my only concern.”

Additionally, Miller explained during the conference call “You need the bench to navigate 82 and then you let your core players take over when the lights are the brightest. I just feel if there is any concern, and it’s slim, are they too top heavy and do they have enough depth.”

The Hall of Famer believes the Phoenix Suns have depth issues this season. But is that true?

What moves have the Phoenix Suns made?

The signing of Bradley Beal is significant for the Phoenix Suns, who needed a selfless player who is ready to play off-ball, drive to the basket and use his high IQ to generate offense.

With three significant shooters like Kevin, Devin, and Beal, the front office has done well to surround their trio with Eric Gordon, Yuta Watanabe, Grayson Allen, Keita Bates-Diop, and others, who are all capable deep-range shooters.

After Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton’s departure, the one position where the Suns are missing is point guard. If things don’t work out before the trade deadline, James Jones will have to go without a typical point guard.

Miller emphasized on how difficult the Suns’ season might get, but he can’t bet against them having three or four powerful players on their roster.
