Despite possessing a star-studded setup last year, the Brooklyn Nets failed to go all the way. In the Eastern Conference semifinals, Kevin Durant and co. bowed out to the Milwaukee Bucks. It was an unfortunate result for the men in black, who lost to the eventual champions. Ahead of the new season, the Nets are looking to fill the gaps in their side. And now, they have taken a step towards achieving that.

In the 2021 off-season, Steve Nash’s side wanted to improve on certain fronts. After ending the previous edition of the league on a bitter note, they will look to bounce back. Plagued by injuries, the Nets failed to make it count under pressure. But now, they are back to full strength, along with some new arrivals. The likes of Patty Mills and James Johnson were signed, while some key players have been offloaded.

Brooklyn Nets guard Mike James on his way out

31-year-old Mike James spent a year with the Nets, but is all set to make an exit. The point-guard from Oregon wore the #55 for Durant’s side, but did not make much of an impact. He played a mere 13 games, and managed 7.7 points on average in the regular season. After the culmination of his deal, the free agent is now set to leave the league and head to France.

As reported by Swish Cultures, Mike James has signed a one-year deal with international basketball club AS Monaco Basket. He will thus leave the United States and head to France, where the deal will be finalized. The guard will now feature in the Euroleague, where he will hope to make his NBA experience count. In addition, it has also been reported that James has been offered a shoe deal with global giants Adidas.

The deal is perhaps beneficial for both parties. For the Nets, this was a crucial move in order to free up squad space. As for Mike James, he will receive more opportunities to showcase his skill set. Will it be a successful transfer for the former Greek League champion? We’ll see.
