Ray Allen is a Boston Celtics legend. He was a vital part of the team when they won the NBA championships in 2008. The shooting guard played for four different franchises over the course of his 18 years long career.

He was effective and one of the best shooters from the distance. In fact, he has the second most 3 pointers in the history of the NBA. Only Stephen Curry has more.

Ray Allen was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018. This year the Hall of Famer also had the honor of being a part of the NBA 75th Anniversary team.

Ray Allen grew up watching the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan and the legends of the 1980s-90s. So it was obviously an intimidating and special moment for Ray to witness all of them at the NBA 75th anniversary event.

Ray Allen left starstruck at the NBA 75th Anniversary event

Ray joined Cedric Maxwell on his podcast to discuss his time in the NBA, his years at the Boston Celtics, the aftermath of joining the Miami Heat from the Celtics, and many other things. They also discussed Ray Allen’s experience of the NBA 75th anniversary event.

Cedric Maxwell asked Ray how he felt seeing all his favorite stars in the event that he had watched growing up and looked up to.

Ray answered, “Each person that walked in it was almost like that song that took you back to where you were in your childhood. But I’m looking at these guys thinking, man I remember the shoes the Ewing’s on you know. I remember the Jordan fours. I remember you know when I seen Dr J, I remember his poster on the wall. The converse poster. Like all those things were flooding into my mind.”

Ray shared how it was in the 80s when he first got introduced to the NBA. The first time he watched all these stars playing at the highest level. It was a moment to cherish and remember for the rest of his life.

Even after winning 2 NBA championships and an overall noteworthy career, it was these moments that made him feel like a child again. This only shows that even the players just like us, are first and foremost fans at heart.
