Seems like rapper Kanye West is not the most favorite person in the Hollywood industry at the moment. The Shop, which is produced by NBA star LeBron James, was supposed to feature Kanye West in its latest episode. However, the co-producer of the show, Maverick Carter announced that they will not air the episode due to Kanye’s negative remarks. Carter released a statement conveying the news on October 11, 2022.

Kanye West has been under the scrutiny of the media for quite a while now. Due to his recent actions and comments, several famous personalities have criticized the rapper. Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Jaime Lee Curtis, and Ariana Grande publicly called out Kanye for his recent remarks. Furthermore, Meta suspended West’s accounts due to his comments.
But that wasn’t the end, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James apparently decided to not release the episode that featured the Grammy award recipient. The reason being that the show didn’t want to platform Kayne in the wake of recent events. Incidentally, West upset a lot of people after wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ shirt at Paris Fashion Week. In addition, he had made certain comments that could be allegedly construed as discriminatory.
LeBron James decides to not air an episode of The Shop
Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding Kanye West, the rapper had shot an episode with The Shop. Carter said that they had booked West several weeks ago and they had expected the rapper to have a ‘respectful discussion’. However, he stated that they won’t be releasing the episode in light of West’s remarks. According to Carter, West had used The Shop to convey more negative remarks and hate speech.

“We have made the decision not to air this episode or any of Kanye?s remarks.? While The Shop embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate. I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation and apologize to our guests and crew. Hate speech should never have an audience,” said Carter.

Former NFL star Marcellus Wiley went on to compare the situation to the recent Draymond Green controversy. He stated that he would rather watch the leaked video than having to see Green’s sucker punch. The Golden State Warriors star recently garnered attention for punching fellow teammate Jordan Poole during the team practice. Green reportedly apologized to the team for his actions and took a break from the court for an indefinite period of time.
