Jordan is shown in the video receiving a pair of Air Ace 3/4 sneakers that were specially reserved for him. Forthwith, he was joined by Chicago Bulls teammates Charles Oakley and Sam Vincent, exploring the Nike aisles at their leisure.
The filming took place the same year that Tinker Hatfield developed the Air Jordan 3 and unveiled the new Jumpman logo, thereby delaying Jordan’s stance to exit Nike.
Michael Jordan and the Bulls in 1988-89
In the 1988-89 season, Jordan appeared in 81 games. He had one of the finest statistical all-around seasons when he once again led the league in PPG and established extraordinary season highs in rebounding and assists. Moreover, Jordan channeled his inner Oscar Robertson as he put up 15 triple-doubles that season.
Further, that season, Jordan had 5 50-point performances, 3 of which came in the initial month. Not only did he set a season-high with 53 points against the Phoenix Suns, but he also set a season-best for rebounds with 14, which he achieved five times. On March 24, he dished out a season-high 17 dimes against the Trail Blazers.
In the playoffs, Jordan averaged 34.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. Additionally, Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals that season. Also, he hit the iconic jumper over Craig Ehlo in the Game 5 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.

Consequently, Jordan got a triple-double in the first game of the following round against the New York Knicks, and the Bulls went on to win the series 4-2. Thereupon, the Chicago Bulls progressed to the ECF. The Bulls had a 2-1 series lead against Detroit but lost the remaining three games to the Pistons, who went on to win the ring. However, this only added fuel to Jordan’s determination to win a championship, as he proceeded to do in the following years.
