Now, the prestigious award ceremony is weeks away. As anticipations for the award gather full momentum, track and field sprinting sensation Sha’Carri Richardson was nominated for the BET Awards Sports Woman of the Year 2023 award. Richardson will be competing with the likes of Serena Williams and Angel Reese among others.

Sha’Carri Richardson was quick to unveil the good news for her Instagram followers. Richardson posted her picture, which says, “Sha’Carri has been nominated for Sports Woman of the Year at 2023 BET Awards!” The post also includes the names of other nominees. Sha’Carri will be competing with Serena Williams, Angel Reese, Alexis Morris, Allyson Felix, Candace Parker and Naomi Osaka.

Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal was quick to acknowledge Sha’Carri’s achievement. The Diesel shared the 23-year-old’s post on his Instagram story. Shaquille O’Neal’s celebration comes just days after he lauded her on-track heroics.

Sha’Carri Richardson took to the track heroically during the Miramar Invitationals 2023. Covering 100 meters within 10.57 seconds, Sha’Carri emerged as the winner. Sha’Carri’s time marks the third fastest 100 meters finish for the event. The 23-year-old had posted a snippet of her iconic win on Instagram. This post also caught Shaquille O’Neal’s attention and he shared it on his story as well.
