NBA superstar Kyrie Irving recently shocked the basketball world when he submitted a trade request to the Brooklyn Nets. Irving was apparently unhappy with the Nets’ decision to offer him a long-term contract and wanted out. This was a massive shock for the Nets fans, who did not see this coming mainly because of how the team has been performing in the past few months. Also, Irving was so upbeat about the team and even took a sly dig at former teammate James Harden for leaving the Nets.

So most fans could not believe what was happening. Then after days of speculations about Kyrie’s next possible destination, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks to partner up with superstar Luka Doncic. However, there is more to the Kyrie trade.

Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris were traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and multiple future picks. Irving had already said his goodbyes to the Brooklyn Nets fans when he thanked the fans via social media. The trade is finalized, but some players could be on the move again. According to reports from NBA correspondent Marc Stein, the Nets might trade Dinwiddie to another team before the transfer deadline on February 9. As the report was shared on social media, fans shared their opinion. Here are some reactions:

Most fans predicted or wanted the Lakers to go for Dinwiddie after missing out on Kyrie. On the other hand, many wondered whether a player could be traded immediately after recently being traded. Even though it is rare, a player can be traded immediately after a trade.

Others argued he would go to a different team. Notably, the Nets owner, Joe Tsai, reportedly did not want to trade Irving to the Lakers. So one has to wonder whether he will be open to any trade with the Lakers.

Spencer Dinwiddie could be a good addition

Brooklyn is a familiar place for Spencer Dinwiddie, who played for five seasons with the Nets. In the 2019-20 season, the point guard had a breakout season during his third year with the Nets. He averaged a career-high 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and a career-high 6.8 assists per game in 64 games.

However, he only played four games in the next season because of a season-ending partial ACL tear. He then played for the Washington Wizards for a year before moving to the Dallas Mavericks. Dinwiddie has been playing at a level close to his 2019-20 season with the Nets. So he could be an excellent addition to any team.
