Shaquille O Neal’s personality is a coalesce of different reflections. The former Lakers Center has shown both a funny and sensitive side to him, especially when he is debating Charles Barkley. However, being around Shaq can be a downright risky venture for some, as he is also a notorious prankster. His pranks have brought disgust and they can be difficult to wrap your head around. 

However, he always gives props to certain teammates. As he sat down with Nischelle Turner and Anthony “Spice” Adams, a former teammate joined him on the fun.

In the season finale of “The Big Podcast”, a two-way defensive magnet of his time, Gary Payton joined Shaq. The duo reminisced about their championship journey with the Miami Heat that brought Shaq his fourth and Payton his first ring. They also recollected the failed Lakers’ experiment that brought Shaq, Kobe, Payton, and Karl Malone together to only fall to the Pistons in the 2004 Finals. Turner asked Shaq why he listened to the former SuperSonics Guard when he has the tendency to be stubborn and not listen to anyone.

To this, Shaq replied, ”Because I know Gary was just like me. We respect people that are similar. I know who Gary is, I know Gary got that dog in him. He stood up for me, we had a lot of battles together. He stood up to Kobe, a lot of trash-talking. I respected him enough to want him to come join me.”

Shaq then expressed that they had to play through a tough era and that he needed a tough point guard like GP to get a championship.

Payton once revealed a nasty story about Shaq

The Big Aristotle is a renowned comic relief. He is known for his on-court shenanigans. At the tail-end of his career, when he became a team hopper, these antics multiplied tenfold. One of his common pranks was jumping on people who were on the sideline during a game. 

However, sometimes his pranks got out of hand. Gary once famously revealed that the former Heat Center engaged in a highly repulsive bathroom prank. Payton stated, “Shaq is a jokester. So if one of the rookies would be in the stall, he would take a bucket, and use the bathroom in it for about a week. And then all of the sudden he would pour it on them.”

Now that his playing days are over, Diesel now engages in these pranks with the Inside the NBA crew and has been on the receiving end too.
