It has been three decades since the Blazers last reached the NBA finals in 1992 where Michael Jordan’s Bulls ousted them 4-2. That was the same year when they had gone past the mighty Lakers in Round 1. Fast forward to the present day, they’ve been playing under the inspiring leadership of Damian Lillard, but nothing is helping their cause.

Turns out, Dame has done everything in his potential, but he is yet to find his Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter. As a result, the Blazers have now faltered in the first round on five occasions in the last seven seasons. Damian Lillard with yet another cryptic message

The Big Game Dame recently came across a fan tweet that invited people to speculate how much can one bid for a Lillard-to-Lakers potential trade. The 6x All-Star had a befitting response to that, as he suggested a million dollars in bet. Take a look –

Now, the most sensible assessment of this tweet suggests that a person betting a million on one such trade would lose every dime. But Dame’s response also explains how the league veteran is paying attention to the market talks involving his trade rumors.

In the recent past, there have been enough narratives that Dame might join the Knicks, but nothing has come to fruition. Apart from the Oakland native’s cryptic posts, nothing plausible is available in terms of his potential trade.

In the league, the legendary players who remained loyal to one franchise hold a special place. Be it Kobe Bryant, John Stockton, Dirk Nowitzki, or any other such name, there’s respect involved in having one such career.

Now, the Lakers already have LeBron James as their leader and the likes of Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony as his top guns. Even if the Lakers decide to trade a huge package to house Lillard, this would force the star’s legacy to take a massive hit. Arguably, winning just one title with the Blazers will always hold a bigger place than completing a three-peat with the Lake Show.

Also, Giannis Antetokounmpo has recently proved how sticking to one franchise and investing in its built can reap benefits. So the duo of Damian Lillard and Chauncey Billups can still build something that they can call their own. Do you also think that Dame should stay in Portland no matter what?
