Going through a series of old photos from a bygone era and reminiscing of the good old days gives a sense of peace and nostalgia that many find solace in. For NBA legend Dennis Rodman, a resurfaced picture from the late 90s might bring back the feeling of a certain sense of achievement. The Chicago Bulls legend was named one of the top 10 fascinating people of the year by a renowned broadcast journalist. What made the photo more significant was the fact that the television personality, who stood next to the 6 ft 7 inch Rodman in the picture, recently took her last breath. She was 93 years old at the time of her death.
Dennis Rodman might have a whimsical personality but he sure is a person who never let societal rules dictate his life. Back in the 90s, men cross-dressing and experimenting with makeup were mostly frowned upon. This probably made the Hall of Famer all the more fascinating to the public eye. Despite having a rough childhood, Rodman had created a legacy that not many can match up to.

In the year 1996, Dennis Rodman made it to the late Barbara Walters’ list of 10 most fascinating people. The famed journalist had excellent interviewing abilities and had a vast number of admirers. Walters worked as a journalist for over six decades until her retirement in 2015. While Barbara Walters had a huge number of viewers, not many agreed with her top ten list of fascinating people. For instance, sportscaster Bob Costas once called out Walters for including former ‘Rebound King’ Dennis Rodman in her list. The Emmy Award recipient accused Walters of getting ‘sold out’ for ratings.
“When you see Barbara Walters sitting at the foot of a bed with Dennis Rodman and naming him one of her 10 most fascinating people of whatever year that was, you know that Barbara Walters has long since sold out because Barbara Walters doesn’t remotely believe that Dennis Rodman is fascinating,” Costas said.
Costas claimed that Walters only named Rodman in her list because she wanted to increase her viewership rating.
